Terms & Conditions for Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) – Scholarship and its different phases

1) Scholarship and different phases of Fee/ Scholarship are applicable for Indian Applicants only.

2) Grant of Scholarship in different phases is subject to prevalence of Scholarship Scheme at the time of receipt of application and is further subject to verification and authentication of the information, certificates and other documents as required by the University.

3) Percentage in the Qualifying examination represents percentage of aggregate marks. In case of Programme after 10th and 12th, calculation of aggregate marks will be done considering best five subjects (with highest marks) in the qualifying examination. However in case the concerned board declares student pass with less than five subjects in 12th, calculation of aggregate marks will be done considering less than five subjects (with highest marks) only. Further it is important that in all situations, the marks obtained in subject(s) prescribed under the respective eligibility criteria of Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) for the concerned Programme must be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. Thus in such conditions, eligibility criteria of Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) will prevail over concerned board or equivalent body. This clause is applicable for calculating eligibility as well as scholarship. If candidate is not able to satisfy the eligibility criteria as per the criteria mentioned above, then all the subjects registered for qualifying exam may be considered for calculating aggregate marks for eligibility only and not for offering scholarship. For details, refer the head ‘Eligibility’ under ‘General Guidelines for Admissions etc’ in Part C of Prospectus 2021.

4) For determining the eligibility and scholarship of applicants who have completed their eligibility qualification from Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), the multiplying factor 10 will be used for converting CGPA into percentage.

5) Applicants, who have scored 10 CGPA in 10th or 10+2 (12th) class CBSE board, will be considered for scholarship equivalent to that of 90% and above bracket.

6) Scholarship is offered at the time of Admission only and may be offered on different basis like Scholarship on the basis of Sports, on the basis of cultural performance or on the basis of marks in last qualified (10th & 10+2) exam etc. Applicant can claim the Scholarship on any one basis and the claim for Scholarship may be made only at the time of filing Application for Admissions or before the date prescribed by the University subject to the last date of Admission with Scholarship for the concerned Programme. In case applicant has opted Scholarship of one type (i.e. on one basis) or has not opted for Scholarship at all, then change in the Scholarship type (basis) so claimed will not be allowed and claim for the Scholarship will also not be allowed at later stage.

7) Scholarship will be awarded to the candidate only after the verification of original documents. In case candidate is not able to provide the documents within the stipulated time as prescribed by the university, subject to maximum of 2 months from the last date of admission, then scholarship will not be awarded or may be canceled, if already awarded.

8) In case, an applicant is eligible for Scholarship as well as for any other monetary benefit under any other scheme or policy of Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), then he/ she has to opt for only one scheme of his/her choice.

9) In addition to Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) Scholarship, if a candidate gets scholarship from a Government/ NGO/ any other organization, then Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) Scholarship will be restricted to amount obtained by subtracting outer agency Scholarship (from a Government/ NGO/ any other organization) from total applicable fees (including Examination fee and stationary fees/ uniform fees , etc. Total Applicable fee will be excluding any scholarship amount offered by University. Example: Assuming Fee of B.Sc. Programme as Rs. 35000/- per semester (i.e. Rs. 70,000/- per year), including exam fee as Rs. 6000 (for two semesters) receives a scholarship of Rs. 20,000/- per year at the time of admission and later on also gets a Scholarship from outer agency or equivalent, then the maximum entitlement for scholarship offered by Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) for such candidate shall be Rs. 5000/- per year (instead of Rs. 20,000 Per Year), obtained by subtracting Scholarship of Outer agency.

10) A candidate being admitted under Post Matric Scholarship or any other Govt. Scholarship for full programme fee waiver can either avail scholarship offered by Govt. agency or Scholarship offered by the University.

11) If a candidate earlier admitted for a programme during one phase, later on applies for programme transfer; then he will be entitled for the fee/ scholarship benefit applicable in that phase in which he initially took admission in, subject to last date of admission and availability of seats in the concerned programme and other conditions prescribed for that specific phase .Example: Case 1) Applicant initially admitted in Phase-I in DHM with 20% scholarship, if later on in Phase IV seeks transfer to BHM/B.sc, then for BHM/B.Sc., also he will get the same scholarship bracket as for DHM in Phase I (20% Scholarship). Case 2) Applicant initially admitted in Phase I in DHM with 20% Scholarship after qualifying entrance exam, if later on in Phase IV seeks transfer to BHM/B.Sc., then for BHM/B.Sc., also, he/she will get the benefit of Phase I Scholarship. Case 3) Applicant initially admitted in Phase I with 20% scholarship in BHM/B.Sc., if later on in Phase IV seeks transfer to DHM, then for DHM the Phase I Scholarship will not be available because for DHM, applicant should have completed the process as prescribed for Phase-I. In case of Programme transfer, the Fee/ Scholarship benefit may be awarded even if the candidate is transferred after the last date of scholarship. However, other conditions as mentioned above will be applicable.

12) For Scholarship on the basis of performance in 10th or 12th exams, the score should be valid and only the Percentile will be considered. Any special Rank/ Percentile for category of candidates like separate Rank/ Percentile for Reserved Category etc. shall not be considered for award of Scholarship.

13) Scholarship on the basis of performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co- curricular, Social Service, Bravery etc. will only be awarded in case of competition held as per guidelines duly approved by Central/State Government or as approved by Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) from time to time. The list of activities to be considered for Scholarship on the basis of Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-Curricular, Social Service, Bravery etc. has been separately enlisted by the university. 14) For Scholarship on the basis of Performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service, Bravery etc. applicant will be required to submit Certificates as detailed in ‘Scholarship Application Form for Sports,Cultural, R&D, Co-Curricular, Social Service and Bravery etc.’ (available in Admissions Office and/or on University website www.psihm.com). Scholarship may be awarded only after the verification of certificates and documents by the University. University may recommend any scholarship holder in the category of Sports/ Cultural/ Social Services etc to undergo trials or auditions at the commencement of academic term based on which scholarship may be withdrawn due to medical or skill failure or any other issue.

15) For award of scholarship on the basis of performance in sports, age of candidate must be less than 25 years.

16) For Scholarship on the basis of performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co- curricular & Social Service, the performance only in last two calendar years will be considered and subject to medical fitness and other conditions. Condition of considering performance in last two years is not applicable for Scholarship on the basis Bravery awards.

17) For Continuation of Scholarship on the basis of performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service, Bravery etc. in the subsequent years, candidate must fulfill the attendance conditions and performance in respective activities. The details of conditions to be fulfilled for continuation of Scholarship basis of performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service, Bravery etc. is available on university website.

18) Candidates availing the scholarship on the basis of performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Cocurricular, Social Service, Bravery etc. shall make himself/ herself available for such practices/ camps/ tournaments etc. as and when required by the University and he/ she shall not represent any institute/ association/ club etc. other than                    Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) without obtaining the prior approval from the University.

19) For Scholarship on the basis of performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service, Bravery etc., the candidate must be in “A+”, “A”, or “B” team of the university (wherever applicable).

20) Only those candidates will be eligible for Scholarship on the basis of performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service, Bravery etc. in subsequent terms/ years, who will continue to take part in concerned activities of the University and their conduct, progress and achievement in concerned activities of sports/cultural/co-curricular/ social service is found satisfactory. The candidate will be assessed at the end of each academic year and the recipient will need to reapply for the scholarship as per the dates specified by the University. In case the performance of the candidate is observed not up to Programme details in Part B of the Prospectus. The benefit of Scholarship will not be applicable in case of fee for various other requirements/ facilities like Backlog/ re-appear/ Make up fee etc. as the mark, then University may terminate the Scholarship granted to the candidate.

21) Benefit of Fee/ Scholarship is for the normal duration of the programme. However if candidate takes more than normal duration to pass the programme, he will not be entitled for these benefits for duration in excess of normal duration.

22) In case of Dual Programme/ Degree Options, benefit of Fee / Scholarship is applicable only for first degree/ diploma and not for higher degree. However Scholarship on the basis of performance in Sports, Cultural and Co-curricular may be continued in higher degree also subject to conditions for continuation in subsequent years.

23) Scholarship benefit cannot exceed the programme fee and in case the scholarship amount exceeds the programme fee, then only programme fee will be exempted.

24) University at its discretion may impose condition of minimum CGPA and/or attendance to be maintained in every term/Semester/ year for continuation of Scholarship in subsequent term(s)/semester(s)/years.

25) 5000 Scholarship may be awarded subject to maximum of 50% of total candidates admitted in the University in 2021 session. However Scholarship scheme may be reviewed on 1st and 15th of every month and may be continued/reduced/withdrawn as decided by the University.

26) If at any stage, it is found that an applicant has concealed, suppressed, distorted any information / fact(s) which would have rendered him ineligible for admission and/or ineligible for benefit of Fee/ Scholarship including or applicant has been admitted and/ or benefit of Fee/ Scholarship has been awarded by default by the University, then the admission and/or benefit of Fee/Scholarship will stand cancelled and action will be taken as per law of the land.

27) If at any stage, it is found that erroneous benefit of Fee/ Scholarship has been awarded because of Staff mistake or otherwise, then the candidate will be entitled for actual Fee/ Scholarship as per the policy specified in Prospectus. Any additional amount already awarded to candidate may be recovered accordingly.

28) Relaxation in eligibility wherever offered like considering higher qualification in place of qualifying exam (as prescribed in Part-B of the Prospectus-2021 under the head ‘Programme Details’), relaxation of 5% in eligibility for North east applicants/ defense personnel’s (as specified in Part C of the Prospectus2021 under the head ‘General Guidelines for Admissions etc.’), 5%/ 10% relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC & other categories as applicable to certain specific programme (prescribed in Part-B of the Prospectus- 2021 under the head ‘Programme Details’), 10% relaxation to outstanding sports person (i.e. students who are getting sports scholarship) subject to verification from selection committee and any other such relaxation is only for determining eligibility criteria and not for offering Scholarship. However, waiving off English as a compulsory subject if applicant has studied in English medium may be considered for Scholarship also.

29) In addition to other terms and conditions as prescribed from time to time, only those candidates will be eligible for scholarship in subsequent terms/ years: a) against whom No Disciplinary action has been initiated or taken during their stay at Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM). b) Who has never been charged for Academic Misconduct or Use of Unfair Means in Siya Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM).

30) Scholarship Scheme is not applicable for a) Distance Learning Programme, b) Any other Programme as specified by the University.

30) In case of any matter not covered here and for interpretation of any content of this prospectus, the decision of the competent authority of the University shall be final and binding on all concerned.
